To celebrate the 2015 National Volunteer Month, the PNVSCA, in cooperation with the National Volunteer Month Steering Committee (NVM-SC) is conducting a photo contest to showcase volunteerism in today’s milieu through the volunteerism in action pictures that capture the representative contributions of volunteerism in Philippine development.

Mechanics
Eligibility
The Contest is open until 30 October 2015. There is no registration fee required to join the Contest.
It is open to all Filipino nationals, 18 years old and above, and currently residing in the Philippines at the time of submission of entry. Participants may be professional/amateur photographers or hobbyists/enthusiasts. Employees of PNVSCA, members of the NVM-SC and their relatives up to the second degree of affinity or consanguinity are not eligible to join the Contest.
Technical Specifications
The photo entry must meet the following image requirements:
Original and colored. Black and White or Sepia photos are not allowed
Digital copy should be in Jpeg or JPG format with resolution of 300 dpi or higher and 2400 X 3000 pixels in size.
Printed copy should be 5R (5×7 inches) in size on photographic paper (matte or glossy finish).
It should not be digitally enhanced or altered. Altered images refer to photographs manipulated and applied with special effects (colorizing, toning, collage, photo composites, HDR, etc.). Only simple adjustments such as cropping and color/contrast/sharpness shall be allowed.
Entries found to have been digitally-manipulated using photoshop and other similar photo editing software will automatically be disqualified. Only simple adjustments such as cropping and color/contrast/sharpness adjustments shall be allowed.
Requirements
The entry should be an original material taken in the Philippines from 2013-2015, owned by the participant and should not be borrowed or grabbed from other sources.
If the image contains any material or element that is not the participant’s property, or if any person appears in the photo, the participant is responsible for securing ”prior to submission of the entry” a formal consent/permission from concerned parties or, in the case of minor, from the subjects parent of guardian.
Entries should not have been submitted to or won in any other contests/competitions nor have been published or shown in any local or international publications and/or other media forms.
Entries which may be obscene, offensive, or may have inappropriate content, as decided by the panel of judges, shall be disqualified.
Photos of national and government officials are not eligible as subjects.
Criteria
All entries will be judged according to the following criteria:
Story (Relevance)
How the photo portrays the theme “Volunteerism for Development” – 50%
Creativity
How the subject of the photo is pictured and presented. – 30%
Impact
(10% from the judges and 10% from online votes/FB likes earned)
How the photo captured the attention of the viewers/public. – 20%
Judging and Selection of Winners
All entries shall be pre-screened by PNVSCA to ensure compliance with the mechanics of the contest.
All qualified entries shall be announced and posted at the PNVSCA Facebook Page for online voting.
The decision of the panel of judges is considered final and unappealable.
Winners shall be notified by PNVSCA and announced at the PNVSCA Facebook Page and PNVSCA website.
Conditionality Clause
PNVSCA has the right to validate the originality and veracity of all entries and information about the participant.
All photos submitted shall be the property of PNVSCA.
In joining the contest, the participant is considered to have irrevocably granted PNVSCA all rights to the photos, along with the names of the photographers, for which may be used by the Agency for various publications and for other official purpose.
Awards and Prizes
The winners will receive Certificates of Recognition and the following cash prizes (inclusive of tax):
First Prize – P 12,000
Second Prize – P 8,000
Runner-ups (3) – P 4,000 each
All qualified participants will receive certificates of participation.
Submission of Entries
Participants may submit a maximum of two (2) entries. Each entry must have a PHOTO TITLE in English or Pilipino including information on the place where the photo was taken, date when the photo was taken, and a short description of what the photo is about.
Entries shall be submitted in a sealed envelope containing the following:
Completed entry form
Digital copy of the entry stored in CD/DVD
Printed copy in 5R size with the name and signature of the participant at the back.
The deadline of submission is on 30 October 2015. Entries received after this date will not be opened. Please address all entries to:
